Sweetie Bear is probably one of my favorite bear patterns! Also based on the Frontline Hero Bear pattern, I gave this bear a sweet and colorful twist. I greatly enjoyed making this bear and I do hope that you all will too. Happy crafting!

Ice Cream Drip Design on Main Cap

*Refer to Cap instructions from the Frontline Hero Bear Pattern.. For the "ice cream drip" design of the cap however, I changed the last two rows of the cap pattern (the one done in the round to connect the front and back panels together).

2nd to the last row: It was mostly 1sc each stitch until I reached the area where I wanted to put the drip design, I chained 3, turned, skipped 1ch and 1sc on the remaining 2 sts. Then 1sc next stitch (back to the main cap) and chained 5 and turned to start working my way back to the main cap by skipping 1ch and 1sc remaining 4 sts. Lastly, I did 1sc each st for the remaining sts.

Last row: I still did 1sc each st except for the parts with the drip design. Once I reached that portion, I started adding 1sc on both sides and made sure that I add additional 2 sc sts at the tip to make sure that it lays as flat as possible (similar to when you make the base of bags or oblong-shaped rugs). Once the drip portion is done, simply 1sc the remaining sts.

Note: You may add or lessen chains depending on the length of the drip design accent you prefer.

For Chocolate Drip Design

1) MR then 6sc (6)

2) Inc each st (12)

3) 1sc the Inc. Repeat until end of row. (18)

4) 1sc next 2sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row (24)

5) 1sc next 3sts then Inc. Repwat until end of row (30)

* For the drip portion, I used the same concept as the drip design of the main cap (see instructions above). Make sure to use a different amount of chains per drip to give it different lengths. Cut enough yarn for sewing. I made about 5 ‘drips’ to give it a more splattered look.

6) Sew onto main cap.

Small Ice Cream Scoop

1) MR then 6sc (6)

2) Inc each st (12)

3) 1sc then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (18)

4) 1sc next 2 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (24)

5) 1sc next 3 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (30)

6) 1sc each st. (30)

7) 1sc next 4 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (36)

8) 1sc each st. (36) - total of 3 rows

9) FL only. 3sc each st. Cut enough yarn for sewing.

10) Sew on top of chocolate drip.

*Add stuffing before sewing

Cone

1) MR then 4sc (4)

2) Inc, 1sc, Inc, 1sc (6)

3) 1sc each st (6)

4) Inc, 1sc next 2sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 2sts (8)

5) 1sc each st (8)

6) Inc, 1sc next 3sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 3sts (10)

7) 1sc each st (10)

8) Inc, 1sc next 4sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 4sts (12)

9) 1sc each st (12)

10) Inc, 1sc next 5sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 5sts (14)

11) 1sc each st (14)

12) Inc, 1sc next 6sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 6sts (16)

13) 1sc each st (16)

14) Inc, 1sc next 7sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 7sts (18)

15) 1sc each st (18)

16) Inc, 1sc next 8sts, Inc, 1sc remaining 8sts (20)

17) 1sc each st (20). Cut enough yarn for sewing.

18) Sew on top of small ice cream scoop.

* Add stuffing before sewing

Cake

1) Chain 54. Connect both ends and 1sc each st (54). Work in the round.

2) 1sc each st. (54) - total of 9 rows

3) Flip work (cylinder). The right side will now be inside (This cylinder will be the inner portion of the cake). BL only 1sc next 8sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (60)

Note: Step #3 is the beginning of the top portion of the cake. Make sure that the right side of the top is facing up (or facing you) as you crochet.

4) 1sc next 9 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (66)

5) 1sc next 10 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (72)

6) 1sc next 11 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (78)

7) 1sc next 12 sts then Inc. Repeat until end of row. (84)

8) BL only. 1sc each st (84). This is the beginning of the outer side of the cake.

9) 1sc each st (84) - total of 9 rows

10) BL. 1sc next 12 sts then Dec. Repeat until end of row. (78). This is the beginning of the bottom of the cake.

11) 1sc next 11 sts then Dec. Repeat until end of row. (72)

12) 1sc next 10 sts then Dec. Repeat until end of row. (66)

13) 1sc next 9 sts then Dec. Repeat until end of row. (60)

14) 1sc next 8 sts then Dec. Repeat until end of row. (54). Cut enough yarn for sewing cake shut.

* When it comes to stuffing the cake, I personally find it easier to stuff as I sew.

Icing

*For the cake in the picture, I used the shell stitch (exposed FL portion). You could also use ruffles (3sc each st) if you prefer more texture.

Candle

1) Use white yarn. MR then 6sc (6)

2) 1sc each st (6). - total of 5 rows. You may lessen or add rows depending on the height you prefer. Cut enough yarn for sewing. (No need to stuff candle).

Candle Flame

1) Use yellow yarn. MR then 4sc (4)

2) Inc, 1sc, Inc, 1sc (6)

3) 1sc each st (6)

4) Dec, 1sc, Dec, 1sc (4). Cut enough yarn for sewing. Sew onto the top of the candle.(new need for stuffing).

*Optional: Sew orange yarn onto the middle portion of the flame.

Happy Crocheting!
