HOPPITY, THE BIG-FOOTED BUNNY

By Aixan Legasto of Yarn It, Darn It

I created Hoppity, the Big-Footed Bunny pattern around March 2018. My pattern-writing skills were still in the beginners' stage, and I must admit, interpreting one's crochet ideas into written form was a struggle (It still is). I did not know whether I was using too many words or too little (as you will see later on, my pattern-writing style was totally different back then). Thankfully, even with the early struggles of putting it into words, the pattern was completed.

Hoppity, the Big-Footed Bunny is an Intermediate Level crochet pattern and makes use of US terms.

Level: Intermediate

Note:

If safety eyes will be utilized, attach it when you reach the 12th row from the top of the head. For the doll in the picture, the eyes are spaced two single crochet stitches apart. For the nose, you may also use a safety nose for dolls. I personally prefer to embroider / sew the nose. For the sewing / embroider option, accomplish this once the doll is finished. I always sew the eyes and nose when the all the parts of the doll are all attached. This is to have a better gauge of the center of the face.

The placement of the nose is right under the eyes. For the doll in the photo, the nose was 7 sc stitches wide and 4 rows tall. I always start with a simple triangle shape by finding the center of the bottom portion of the nose and marking the ends of the top portion of the nose. I continued going back and forth with the yarn to ensure that every part of the nose is covered with yarn. Once this is done, I go back to the bottom portion of the nose and sew a single line 7 rows long.

Also take note that the head and body will be worked from a top to bottom direction. The head will be created first. Do not cut yarn and continue on to the body.
